So, this weekend has been quite the adventure. First, Mike, Marissa, and their new baby Logan came to visit (HOORAY!). Ava is loving her new cousin as you can see below.

So, continuing with the crazy weekend...on Saturday, we had a birthday party for Mike. We ate Papa Pablo's Chili Pie (Dad's secret recipe), and had a great time....until......we lost Sunny (Mom and Dad's 13 year old half-blind and deaf pekingnese dog). **Very long story below...sorry**
Dad had put Sunny in the garage while everyone was over, and didn't realize that she pulled a fast one and escaped into the front yard while he was closing the garage door (she is very small and sneaky). Well, about four hours went by, and the last of the guests were leaving, so Dad went out to the garage to bring her in, but she was no where to be found. After searching every crevice of the garage and the house, we said a quick prayer, and Dad and Mike went to look for her in the car. By this time, it was pitch black outside. They drove all over the neighborhood, and when they were on their way back to the house, about to give up the search, they were driving on a road that passes in between two large but shallow ponds and heard the little Sunny bark that we all know and love coming from the side of the road. They got out, and there was Sunny down at the bottom of a very steep, muddy bank at the edge of the pond. She had dug herself up to her neck in mud trying to get out. Only her face and the top of her head were visible. She was scared to death and nearly frozen...literally. So, Dad jumped in and dug her out. They brought her home and washed her and warmed her up. Dad thinks that if she was out there much longer she would have either buried herself in mud or frozen to death. We were all glad they found her when they did. Below is a little visual of what Sunny looked like when Dad brought her in that night....
Hooray for Dad. Sunny's Hero!!
